Fishermen dies after boat capsizes off Waterford
A fisherman has died after his boat capsized off the Waterford coast at 5.30am this morning.
The man, who was in his 40s, was fishing with another man in a 4.6m boat off Brownstown Head near Tramore.
One man managed to make it ashore and raised the alarm at about 7.40am.
The search and rescue helicopter at Waterford winched the other man from the water just after 8.30am.
Efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at Waterford Regional Hospital at 10am.
The man who made it to shore has been taken to hospital suffering from shock and hypothermia.
