day out in wexford 10-7-2010
myself and gerry.
plan for a days fishing first of was try for bass flats and maybe a bream.with rain forcast for the day, a change of clothes and the wet gear was first into the car. it rained the whole way down till a few miles from stop one and stayed fine then till near end of the day.
gerry was off to a good start with a schoolie bass but nothing for 2.5 only weed every cast and crabs cleaning the hooks on the last cast i did manage a pipe fish first one ever caught.
a change of plan and a move to a near by pier to try for a few mullet.made up ground bait and put it out but no mullet showed gave it to hours ,even a local fisherman came along and dumped 3 boxes of stink huge monk fish heads.i did manage 3 small pollock on the float.
move again to near by rock mark to try for wrasse, the sea was a bit rough but decided to give it an hour.bites straight away and in the hour i had 3 ballan wrasse a corkwing wrasse and a pollock and gerry had a few pollock too.the rain was pelting down at this stage and with wet gear in car and so soaked we decided to call it a day.
