waterford estuary and tramore bay 28th
Well, went on a solo run to spend some time hunting new marks, and boy did i hit a good one
Went to a familiar Flounder mark first , and it really was full of them, not big, but plenty of them, doubles were common, after 30 mins and 25 fish, decided to move to a patch of rough to see if i could winkle out a rockling, had a bite immediately and up came a double silver eel, normally a tough cookie to get.
that was'nt all 18 eels were boated in less than 35 mins, again it must have been full of them, but nothing else except a small codling.
Delighted with a good bit of action, i moved again to try a few more spots, all blanks, i moved back out to sea towards were i launched in tramore.
Each spot was a blank, not even i nibble, it was very poor indeed, a few other boats were bassing around saleens, but did'nt see if they had caught anything.
A great start to the day, and it made the long steam worthwhile, but its very worrying that there was nothing at dunmore, brownstown head, and tramore bay, though of course there was plenty of bouys marking nets and pots!
Hopefully it will improve
regards
